By using Matria, you agree to these terms. Please read them. They are written to be clear rather than clever.
Matria is a sourced reflection app. It answers a lived question only from an archive of women, myths, ideas, histories and traditions, and it shows you where each thread comes from. It is for reflection and learning.
Matria does not give advice, diagnosis, prediction, manifestation or astrology. It is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional. If you are in crisis or may be in danger, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country.
The archive is the authority. Matria does not invent women, sources, or quotations. Direct quotations appear only when their rights are public domain, licensed, or explicitly cleared; otherwise Matria offers its own editorial reading, clearly labelled, or routes to an honest "insufficient sources" state. Quoted and cited material remains the property of its respective authors, translators and publishers. Evidence labels indicate how well supported an entry is and are never treated as equally validated.
Your journal notes and saved reflections are yours and stay on your device. Letters lets you write to other readers. You keep ownership of what you write; you grant Matria only the limited right to store and deliver your letters to the reader you choose. You are responsible for what you send. Letters are anonymous, pen names only, and are subject to the conduct rules below.
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour in Letters. You agree not to send content that is harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, defamatory, that infringes the rights of others, or that solicits personal contact details. Letters pass an automated safety filter before they travel. You can report any letter and block any reader from within the app. We review reports, remove violating content, and remove or suspend abusive users. By writing a letter you agree to these terms and to our acting on reports, usually within 24 hours.
Reading parts of Matria is free. Premium features may be offered as a paid membership, which can be an auto-renewing subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. An auto-renewing subscription renews for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Prices may change, with notice, for future periods.
Use Matria lawfully and for personal, non-commercial reflection. Do not attempt to disrupt the app, reverse engineer it beyond what the law allows, or use it to build a competing dataset by bulk extraction.
Matria is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Matria and its makers are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
If you obtained Matria from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
